You’ve heard it many times, that if you want to be successful and really execute goals you set then they need to be SMART goals. Just Google it and you will see just how many results show up telling you how important SMART goals are and how to create SMART goals that get results.
I’ve learned though, that this method doesn’t work for everyone. In fact, SMART goals suck if they are implemented by someone that they just aren’t right for.
I’m a firm believer that there isn’t just one way to do things.
I’m not even saying that SMART goals can’t come in handy at some point, but for some of us, it’s just not the place to start.

Why SMART Goals Just Don’t Work Anymore
So today, I’m talking about goals with soul; goals that feel good.
Because at the end of the day that’s what we’re all really after; to feel the way we want to feel.
So why don’t SMART goals work for everyone?
Because for most of us, joy and happiness doesn’t come from achieving the goal itself. It comes from the journey and experiencing daily success that keep you moving forward to manifesting your dream.
Instead of creating goals in hopes that they will bring us happiness, why not start with the feeling itself and create intentions that help us feel those feeling every day in everything that we do?
Deciding How You Want To Feel
First, you’ll have to decide how you want to feel. And, although this sound simple enough, checking in with our feeling is not really our default. We’ve been taught to focus on facts not feelings because feeling are not reliable. “Never let your emotions get in the way.” Right?
Well there’s a difference between emotions and core desired feeling.
I highly recommend, The Desire Map by Danielle LaPorte, which is a book/workbook all about setting intentions and creating goals with soul. I think this is such life-changing way of living life by design and being flexible.
Setting Mindful Intentions
Joy is in the journey and on your pursuit of daily mindful and intentional goal setting, gratitude is key and making each day a personal success.
In the book, The Science of Getting Rich, Wallace D. Wattles said “Do, every day, all that can be done that day, taking care to do each act in a successful manner.”
It doesn’t mean over-scheduling your day. It just means doing all that can realistically be done that day.
Creating a morning routine that motivates and inspires you to have those amazingly productive days that always end in results, is a great place to start building consistency.
At that, my friend, is the key to creating goals and intentions that really gain success.
